A sibling for Captain?!

Captain's been wondering lately: What's up with Mommy? She's running slower. And is it just me, or is she looking a little thick around the middle?

Yep, that's right! Captain's getting a sibling. But it's not another Vizsla. Sorry Vizsla fans!! I know, I would love another V, but it's not the time right now... because I'm 5 months pregnant! BIG changes coming, including for Captain. I know he will love our little one.... I just wonder if there will be any way from stopping him from licking the baby all the time, since that seems to be his favorite thing to do to any baby or child... such easy, sticky little targets ;-)

As for running, yes, I'm still going, with Captain at my side (or...errr... in front of me). But my weekly mileage has probably been cut in half, and my pace... well, I don't pay any attention to it. So it has been more of a challenge to wear an active Vizsla out. Plus, despite my joking intro, I do think Captain has some sense of what's going on. He sticks to my side even more when we are at the dog park, as if he thinks he needs to watch out for me. Which is cute, but also means he doesn't really play with other dogs much. Ahh the blessing and the curse of the velcro dog! This was so much easier when I could just run him twice a day.... I am planning on continuing my short little runs for as long as I feel able, though. Then, Captain will just have to get used to plenty of walking, and running with Daddy. And later, chasing a little one around ;-)

My husband and I are ecstatic to add another (ginger?) to our family ;-) But I keep telling Captain not to worry, he's my first baby ;-)

And not to worry out there, more Vizsla blogging to come too! Just wanted to share our news!

  4. Congrats!!! Our Lilly became a big sister about 5 months ago now :) and yes she just loves licking Dylan's fingers - easy target lol.
I am sure Captain is going to be an amazing big bro and just love his little sister or brother. The upside once our little monster is bigger the velcro is sleeping on his bed not ours lol or maybe all four us will be in one bed.
Enjoy every moment - God bless
