Linus

Vizsla with his blanket
We sometimes joke that Captain should have been named Linus because he's always carrying his blanket around. He'll come out of our bedroom, blanket in mouth, tail high, prancing around, very proud of himself for finding where I've hidden the blanket that used to line his puppy crate, and then shake his head around, ears flapping all over, and flip the blanket around as he's biting on it. Very, very cute.

He even did this with my post-race (I did the SF half marathon on Sunday) "moon blanket" this weekend (well, after barking at the weird silver thing first):

But Linus thinks his baby blanket tastes better :-)

City day

Saturday we walked around the city, to the neighborhood of North Beach. Here are a few mobile shots! Above: Captain does some bird stalking, city streets style. Below: Captain in Washington Square Park and enjoying a stick he found on the sidewalk.

Sand Surfing

Vizsla running in sandCaptain says a couple of times up and down a sand dune is a good way to get tired :-)

In addition to some "crazy puppy run" at Fort Funston this weekend, we also saw quite a few hang gliders:Captain is always a little confused by flying things in the air that aren't birds...

Captain goes boating!

VizslaWell, this weekend we figured out that "captain" may be a bit of a misnomer for this Vizsla... or maybe he just needs to find his sea legs. Either way, Captain didn't really seem to enjoy being on a canoe very much. We headed up to Headlesburg for a day of canoe/rafting on the Russian River, excited for Captain's first time on a boat. Unfortunately, he spent most of the time on the boat with his tail between his legs and attempting to climb up on top of his daddy, which made paddling a near impossibility. We ran into a few tricky situations with the currents, but enjoyed the sun & time with friends. Captain DID seem to like swimming around a little, cooling off in the river from the hot sun. Maybe next time we'll see how he enjoys a sailboat or more sturdy vessel....

Happy 4th of July!

Being an East coaster, I'm still getting used to the fact that 4th of July in San Francisco doesn't mean hot & humid. Although we did have a pretty warm weekend, did some grilling, spent a lot of time at the dog park and Chrissy Field, and just relaxing on our porch in the sun, so I guess it wasn't too far off in hitting the mark on outdoor celebration. These are a few shots from our Chrissy Field day.

Hope everyone had a wonderful 4th! We were all worried Captain was going to get freaked out by the fireworks, but luckily he didn't notice them- the perk of living on the opposite side of town from where they set them off.
