Morning Lake Time

Captain and I frequently run around our neighborhood's lake, Lake Merritt. My favorite time to go is in the morning, since it's less crowded on the paths around the lake. I think Captain likes the morning, too, because we tend to see more critters!

I couldn't believe how close this squirrel let Captain get to him:

And I'm always impressed by the pelicans...


... Although I think I'm more interested in them than Captain is.

There are also plenty of snowy egrets and other interesting birds to stalk!

I love it when people walking by are just as  amused (or more so) by Captain's stalking as I am... one woman walking by when Captain run up to this bird was worried he was going to jump in the lake! Luckily, he never does that. It's all about the stalking!

I also have to say, as I get more and more pregnant, I completely don't mind stopping to snap pictures while Captain enjoys a little hunt. ;-)
