Bab(ies) update

Yeah, I've been slacking on the blog posts. We've been busy ;) But here's a brief update on Captain's new life as a big brother!

Most days, we start with a little play time.

Captain thinks that means getting in between Mommy and baby...

...(literally. He gets directly in between us).

Luckily, Hadley is pretty amused by him.

I can't say the reverse is true....yet!

While I'm sure Captain hasn't been getting quite as much attention as he did pre-baby, don't feel too bad for him. We're back to running consistently (albeit not for as long or as often as I'd like), and he gets plenty of walks. If I'm lucky and timing works out, we'll squeeze in a short run, just Mommy and Captain, before Daddy heads off to work. Sometimes, our run is at the end of the day- again if timing works out. It's all about the 'if' these days. Usually, Captain has been going to work with my husband, keeping the FedEx man in check and making sure the office deck has a bathing beauty on it. But sometimes, he stays at home with Mommy and baby, and we go for a bunch of walks. Scenes from some recent ones:

I'm not gonna lie, it's been a rough couple of months- not enough sleep, with cumulative sleep deprivation adding up, and increased fussiness. That third month was a doozy for us. And there are new issues that pop up, and I'm sure will continue to- parenting is a whole new world, and they say that just as you think you're figuring things out and getting the hang of it, things change and you're thrown a new challenge. I'm finding that to be true! But, we are also in awe of her smiles, coos, and now laughs too! And there's no one better in the world to cuddle with....oh, I mean.... sorry, besides Captain of course ;)

That's our update for now!

    1. Thanks Amanda! Congrats!! I think keeping in mind having some help for the dog in those first few months is good. And keep up the cuddles! Captain doesn't seem to understand why I get so excited about her when to him, she's not doing anything yet... He's totally the toddler older brother ;)

  4. Sounds like things are smoothing out over there, and hopefully Captain will come around and enjoy his role as "big brother" more. Hadley is beautiful! Love his smile. :-)
