Ruffwear Running Leash Giveaway!

We're pretty excited to share this post with everyone: our first giveaway! Captain is doing the wiggle-butt just thinking about it. When my husband first suggested I start a blog after we got Captain, I never thought I would get so into it. But I love feeling like we have a little (or big!) Vizsla community; the camaraderie that comes from the love of these dogs, and from sharing fun pictures and stories. I am so grateful for enthusiastic readers who stop by to check out our lil 'ole blog here, who leave Facebook comments and 'likes', and who enjoy Captain's adventures as much as I do. So I wanted to give something as a "Thank you!" to all you out there!

Read on for more info & how to enter!
*This giveaway is now closed.
Here's the deal:

The prize: A Ruffwear Flat-Out leash- the PERFECT way to enjoy a run with your Vizsla (or other active dog!) We LOVE this leash.
The prize: A brand new Ruffwear Flat Out leash in 'cascades' green!
The rules:
There are multiple ways to enter. Each one earns a separate entry, so the more you do, the better your chances!
  1. Leave a comment below, sharing one of the following: what your favorite Vizsla Thing is, how long you've had a Vizsla, the funniest thing your Vizsla has done, your Vizsla's name, or even your favorite thing about Captain!
  2. Like It's a Vizsla Thing on Facebook (if you already do, leave another comment below!)
  3. Become a member of this page (see link below; leave another comment for this entry.)
  4. Post a picture of your Vizsla on our Facebook page (and leave a comment letting me know you have posted the pic. The picture MUST be your own photo of your dog.); every 10 'likes' your photo receives earns you an extra entry.
Yes, that's a maximum total of 4 possible comments, for 4 entries, plus however many entries you earn if your submitted photo gets a lot of 'likes!' The giveaway entry period lasts 5 days from the date of this post. Make sure that you use the same username below for the comments you post.

*Update on commenting: Please note, I have changed comment settings to make sure anyone can comment, but that means people can post anonymously. If you post anonymously, I won't be able to contact you, which would mean you can't win- so make sure you leave a username in the comment or create one when you post!

The winner will be randomly selected from all entries. Once selected, I will post the winner on Facebook and update this post.  Also, I'll make a collage of the most 'liked' pictures and post it on the blog after the contest!

A big thanks to Ruffwear for making this giveaway possible! Check out the Ruffwear Active Dog Blog for more fun.
Captain demonstrating a less-conventional use of the Ruffwear gear ;-)
When the giveaway leash came in the mail, I have to admit, I kind of wanted to keep it for myself. I'll probably end up ordering one for us eventually, since I love the green color against a Vizsla coat, but these leashes are really durable and last so long I don't think we'll be needing a new one for a long time! We have the same one in blue (which also looks great on a V!). We use this Ruffwear Flat-Out leash every day, multiple times a day, because one run a day isn't enough for Captain. It's a great leash because you can snap it around your waist for hands-free running with the pup, and you can of course also use it for walks. There's also a handy close-hold option, for when you need to reel the pup in. Definitely my favorite leash ever. It's also really nice and lightweight, so it doesn't ever bother me when I'm running with it latched around me.

Your dog doesn't have to be a Vizsla to win, but he/she has to like Captain :-)

Ready, set, go! Like, share, comment, and post away!

  1. Captain looks so handsome in his Ruffwear collar! I've been a long-time follower of your blog. The hubby and I have 2 Vizslas named Riley (13 months) and Cooper (8 months). Riley has a Ruffwear water pack that we loooove and it would go great with this leash! ;)

  2. I don't have a Vizsla...yet. But I'm hoping to get one this spring/summer. His or her name will be Senna, after my favorite Formula 1 driver, Aryton Senna. I figure the name isn't particularly gender specific so it will work. Aryton Senna was fast, and I expect my Vizla to be fast so he/she can go trail running and mountain biking with me. This leash would be a good start. And its green!, one of the colors of Brazil, where Senna is from.

  11. One of my favorite things about my vizsla Kane is how he walks himself holding his own leash just like Captain. My neighbors are always amazed when they see us going down the road.

  16. I love the fact they (and all pointing breeds) are totally oblivious to the fact that pointing another dog (i.e. staring) is RUDE! It leads to some misunderstandings with other breeds, but there's nothing like watching to pointing dogs stare each other down and s-l-o-w-l-y stalk each other until one can't stand it and they both break out in the wiggles!

    1. I love that too! Perfectly described, with the s-l-o-w-l-y stalking and then breaking out!

  23. I love when my 18 month old vizsla/ridgeback mix , Jade, gets so excited when I come home! She has her place by the door that she has to sit and wait until I've come in, put my stuff down and pet the cat before I will call her, but her butt is wiggling so much and so fast that she manages to scoot herself across the tile floor right to the chair that my cat lounges in! And then she looks back at her spot with a "how did that happen" expression and runs back to where she should be waiting. That's thing number two I love, she always corrects her own "bad" behavior. It makes training fun and she's so proud of herself when she figures it out!

P.S. Jade says that mommy needs a new hands-free leash because she doesn't run as fast if I'm pulling her arm out of the socket. Also, my favorite color is very obviously green ;)
